Embossed
-By Christine Murrain
I was caught off guard
And so I didn’t mean to stare
But my finger is still embossed
By the ring I used to wear

Everything reminds me of the life
We happily used to share
And I wonder each day
If there’s a chance you might still care
My memory of you is still strong
From your touch, to the scent of your hair
And I’d ask you to return,
But I know it wouldn’t be fair
You deserve more and
I hope you’re treated well over there
And I never meant to hurt you,
I swear.
